Terms of Use

The rules for using HouseMate.

HouseMate provides general guidance and plain-English explanations. It does not replace advice from a solicitor, conveyancer, surveyor, mortgage broker, lender, financial adviser or tax adviser.

1. What HouseMate is

HouseMate is a home-buying guidance and organisation tool. It provides:

  • dashboard guidance
  • personalised next steps
  • document summaries and explanations
  • Ask HouseMate responses
  • subscription-based access

2. What HouseMate is not

HouseMate does not provide:

  • legal advice
  • financial advice
  • mortgage advice
  • surveying or structural advice
  • tax advice
  • any other regulated advice

You should check important decisions with the right professionals, such as:

  • a solicitor or conveyancer
  • your mortgage lender or broker
  • a surveyor
  • a financial adviser or tax adviser, where relevant

3. User responsibilities

When you use HouseMate, you are responsible for:

  • providing accurate information
  • checking key decisions with qualified professionals
  • not relying solely on HouseMate for legal or financial decisions
  • only uploading documents you have permission to use
  • keeping your login details secure
  • not using HouseMate unlawfully

4. AI limitations

  • AI-generated responses may be incomplete, inaccurate or out of date.
  • You should verify important information independently.
  • HouseMate is designed to support your understanding, not replace professional judgement.

5. Subscriptions and billing

  • HouseMate offers Starter and Plus monthly subscriptions.
  • Subscriptions are billed through Stripe.
  • You can cancel anytime via the billing portal.
  • Access and limits depend on your plan.
  • Payment failures may reduce or suspend access.
  • Refunds are handled case-by-case or in line with applicable law.

6. Usage limits

  • Plans include monthly AI and document review limits.
  • Limits reset monthly.
  • HouseMate may prevent further use once a limit is reached.
  • Limits may change for future plans, with notice where appropriate.

7. Uploaded documents

  • You retain ownership of the documents you upload.
  • HouseMate may process them to provide document review and AI responses.
  • You should not upload documents containing information you are not allowed to share.
  • HouseMate may remove content that breaches these terms.

8. Availability and changes

  • HouseMate is an early-access / MVP service.
  • Features may change over time.
  • The service may occasionally be interrupted.
  • Some features may be marked as coming soon or experimental.

9. Liability

  • HouseMate is provided to support your understanding of the home-buying process.
  • We are not responsible for losses caused by relying on HouseMate instead of professional advice.
  • Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

10. Cancelling your account

You can cancel your subscription through the billing portal. You can request account or data deletion by emailing support@gethousemate.com.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
